fRiEnDs!!!

I said goodbye to Emily and Elyse today......sad day in the neighborhood!!!! I'm so excited for Christmas time when I get to see all my girls again. I miss them all so much!!!!!!!! YW was the best thing I ever could have asked for. It was my safe haven and my happy place. I miss it a lot. Only four months and some odd days left until I get to see everyone again!!!!!

Freud Himself

The past two days have been some of the most stressful, fun, boring, and enlightening days of my time here at Brigham Young University.  I've had papers due, a huge annotated bibliography, quizzes and tests for physics, failed servers, library visits, time with my girls Emily and Elyse, burned toes from the Hot Springs in Midway, rewards of Jamba Juices, blogging, and sitting around racking our brains to figure out something to do. This is the wonder of college life. BYU is a very interesting place.  I am currently sitting under a tree next to the HFAC and there is a family of five walking past completely decked out in BYU apparel caring huge bags from the BYU Bookstore! There are some very funny and interesting people here.  I can't even remember half of the things that I did yesterday. BYU is fun packed and very stressful, but I totally love it here!

Up All Night......

So last night was interesting......first I left to go take my Physics test, and I ran into Emily and Elyse! I stayed with them for about 20 minutes and then headed off to the very scary looking Testing Center!  I would say it took me about half an hour to finish the test.  Usually, I look over the test again after finishing, but this time I just went with my gut and turned it in right when I was done.....walking down the stairs, I contemplated my fate. Would I end up at McDonald's or at my BYU graduation in 2013? I looked straight at the screen and in that screen I saw and heard Pomp and Circumstance!!!!!! 83% for me!!!!!!! Thats 23% better than the last test!!!!!!! After the test, I was just on this huge high!!!! Sooooooo excited!!!!!!! So then, I came back to the dorm for a bit, then left again for class at 5 pm.  After that, I stayed at the library until 7:45 working on english. The library was WAY too quiet, so I headed back to the dorm to finish up. My English took most of the night. When I finally finished English, it was 11:45 and I still had Physics chapters to read and quizzes to take!  I finished reading the chapters and to my dismay, the server was down so I couldn't take my quizzes.  After freaking out for a little, I realized if I couldn't get on, no one else could either! So I went to bed around 12:45 as Arielle stayed up all night cramming for Physics with Jocelyn and Alena.  If I weren't mormon, I would need coffee to do this! I really have no idea what keeps me up at night!!!!! Whatever it is, I'm glad it works!!!!

"I'm gonna have to drink a lot of coffee to keep up with you two!"

Notes...Notes...and more Notes!!!

My Physical Science midterm is today, so I've been studying like no other!!!! I must get a good grade on this test!!!! I've be going to every lecture, lab, and review session. I've taken tons of notes on this stupid chemistry stuff.  If I don't get a better grade on this test I just might have to quit school, go home to Indiana, get a job at McDonald's, and work for minimum wage the rest of my life..........totally kidding......but if I don't get a better grade on this, I will cry!!!! ahhhh!!!!! Wish me luck!!!

"Oh, here, I almost forgot your notes."
"Oh, I hope they helped."
"They did. Some guy tried to mug me earlier and I beat him to death with them."

Homeland Security (Dorm-land Security) aka EFY Invasion!

I have a Physics test tomorrow, so earlier I went out with a blanket, my books, and my music to go study under the tree right outside my dorm. I was working peacefully and diligently, until I hear a loud scream, see a shadow of a football flying across the lawn, and people in bright green shirts with name tags.  Low and behold, it is EFY........invading my land!!!!! They come out of nowhere like ninjas!!!! Seriously, they almost took out my computer!!!! Thats a scary bunch!!!! My friends Emily and Elyse are in that crowd of ninjas somewhere!! I'm so excited to see them!! I'm pretty sure I saw them walking from afar, but they didn't see me if it was them.....I guess I'll just have to await Em's text about free time!!! Dorm residents over summer, beware of the EFYers!!!!!

Nothing Exciting Before 11

English class was cancelled today for a research day......did no research of course! I got to sleep in! Physics started at 10 and I was actually excited for class today because it was the last day we are studying chemistry! I HATE chemistry! We're moving on to Geology and Astronomy, subjects of much more interest to me. After Physics class, Arielle and I went to the review session with the TA.  I got the mail and to my surprise I had SIX pieces of mail!!!!! 4 postcards, 1 package, and 1 letter!!!! That's a record!!!!!! I love getting mail!!!!!!!!! The fun doesn't stop there!! Emily and Elyse are here for EFY and I am sooooooo excited to see them!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully much more fun awaits me!!!!!!

Super Cool Party People

The fun of BYU doesn't start until after 9 p.m.  The plan originated with Kelsey and Spencer: play capture the flag within the entire campus!  Sadly, not enough people showed up so we decided to play sardines on campus instead.  There were some very clever hiding spots: up in an evergreen tree, in the bushes against the Wilk, and a deep and scary stairwell next to the JKB. We searched for Roxanne for 45 minutes!!  Nate and Kody rode broken bikes around that they found in the bike racks.  Nate's only had one pedal and Kody's didn't have a chain.  Eventually, we all got tired off wandering around campus, so we decided to go back to the dorms and go ice blocking. The sprinklers came on and so I couldn't resist running through them a few times!!!! After changing out of my damp clothes, Arielle, Alena, Kelsey, me, Kody, and Russell went out to buy ice blocks at midnight.  We searched Wal-Mart and Buy Low, but they either didn't have any or they were closed. Ice blocking will have to wait for another night! The party dimmed down around 1:30 a.m. in the dorms. After a shower and an episode of Psych, we went to bed around 2:40 a.m. Another semi-successful night out!

Late College Nights

It may not seem much to everybody else, but the vending machines in the dorms are our late night lifeline! And when they don't take our school ID signature cards (which act like debit cards) we are starving for the whole night!!!! So last night, Kelsey, Roxanne, and I wander down to stock up on munchies and are met with the words "No Cards Accepted." After a short fit of anger, we decide that there are six other dorms around us with vending machines! So we wander over to Budge Hall and grab some snacks......after we get back, we're still bored out of our minds!  So I'm on Facebook (as I am 24/7) and I get a message from Jordan. So we go out for pizza at 1 am....it was fun.....pitchblack out, raining, just talking. Good times! Once Jordan drops me off at my dorm, I go up and watch the movie Because I Said So, starring Diane Keaton, Mandy Moore, Lauren Graham, and Piper Perabo, with Kelsey and Cameryn. The night finally ended after the movie when I put my head down to sleep at 3:40 am! I love college!!!!!

Comedy Sportz

Arielle, Me, Kelsey, and Cameryn were bored out of our minds today, so we went to Comedy Sportz in downtown Provo.  It was absolutely hilarious!!! It was like an exact replica of Drew Carey's "Who's Line is it Anyway?" They stamped our hands with a stamp that said, "Oh My Heck," and they did tons of mormon jokes! Only in Utah, people!!!! One of the improv guys was actually Cameryn's freshman history teacher! And to make things even weirder......he was Arielle's EFY counselor for four years!!!! Small world this Mormon world is!!!!! Here's some random quotes that would only make sense to those who frequent Comedy Sportz:
1. Pine cone from Heaven
2. Little billboards on their shirts
3. Movie theatre owner from Afghanistan
4. Cold shirtless sumo wrestler
5. Bathing hands in chocolate pudding

Pioneer Day and a new idea!!!!!!

Happy Pioneer Day to you all!!!!!! There's no classes today.......so here i am, in my dorm room, typing this post, and watching the special features on Gilmore Girls! Long weekends are very appreciated but also very boring!!! I learned in my first few days here that Provo is BORING!!! the only thing thats really fun to do in provo is go ice blocking or the dollar theatre......both of which get old very quickly.  I do have my usual load of homework though.......a research paper on Habitat for Humanity for English, 2 chapters to read and 2 online quizzes for Physics, and a 5 page paper on my personality for Student Development. Sure I have plenty to do, but all I ever want to do on days off is watch movies and sleep!!!!!!
I also got a new idea last night!!!!!!! We had our regular floor meeting and Caitlin played a bunch of songs on her acoustic guitar. She was absolutely amazing! I love listening to her play! So I got the idea in my pretty little head to buy myself a guitar and learn to play! My friend Sarah in Indiana is going to help me learn a little during Christmas break. Plus, BYU offers a beginning guitar class!!!!!! I've already found a really nice one (and cheap) on guitarcenter.com.  It's called a Jasmine by Takamine S35 for only $99.99!!!!!!! I've already saved up $27 in change....it's in a little paper cup on my shelf in my dorm room.  I'm really excited to get earning and get learning!!!!
HAPPY PIONEER DAY!!!!!!

The End of the Gilmore Marathon....

The Gilmore Girls marathon has been a tradition of mine for a couple years....all seven seasons, all 153 episodes!!!! Usually I get through all of the shows in two weeks over the summer, but BYU threw a wrench into the plan. Instead of two weeks, the marathon took a little over a month.......me, Arielle, Cameryn, and Alena watched Gilmore whenever we could. After dinner the conversation was usually, "Shall we Gilmore?" "YES!"
Sadly, the last episode was watched today......very depressing I know! What will we watch now?!?!?! We're thinking Scrubs!
My plan: watch the entire series every semester!!!!! yeah!!!!!

Kelli Visits!

Kelli Ford came to visit me today!!!! She's one of my friends from Indiana YW Hebron Ward!!!! i miss those girls SO much!!!!!!! Kelli and i had a great time going to baskin robbins with her pretty intense bubblegum ice cream cone!! then we came back to the dorm, and she taught me how to plug in my ipod.......yes she taught me how to plug it in...haha. then we went and had a blast taking pictures on my macbook pro!!!! great times!!!!! then we spent the rest of the time listening to tom felton (draco malfoy from hp) on youtube! he is amazing look him up!!!!!!!!! and sadly....kelli had to leave.........the next time i see her will be in five months at christmas..........

emily and elyse dumas are coming to visit me on monday though while they're at efy!!!!!!

The 2100 Girls!

cameryn, arielle, jocelyn, me, alena, kelsey

First Month

The first month of college has been very interesting! I've moved 1600 miles away to Provo, UT.  My first move ever! Brigham Young University is the best place I could ever picture myself. College is fantastic!
The summer term is very laid back. I'm taking Physical Science 100, English 150, and Essential Study Skills. Physics is very hard but English is very fun!
Making friends was a new experience.  I've always lived in the same place and had the same friends. I was thrown into a completely new world. The girls on my floor are amazing! There's Arielle, Alena, Cameryn, Elise, Jocelyn, Alexis, Clara, Sarah Kay, Christina, Roxanne, and Katelin to name a few! We do a bunch of fun things like climbing up to the Y, ice blocking, sardines in the park at midnight, Jump On It, and Gilmore Girls marathons!
I'll be posting some of the fun things that happen including some interesting stories in the Police Beat from The Daily Universe (our goal is to get published into the Police Beat). Enjoy and follow me through my incredible journey ON MY OWN!!!
